The Ottawa Redblacks signed linebacker Andrew Chatfield Jr. to the practice squad on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Andrew Chatfield Jr. is six foot two and weighs 254 pounds. The 25-year-old from Plantations, Florida, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp.
Collegiately, Chatfield Jr. played three seasons at Florida (2018-20) making 19 tackles (5 solo, 14 assists), 5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 23 games for the Gators. Then, he transferred to Oregon State (2022-23). In 2022, he made 20 tackles (10 solo, 10 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble in 12 games. In the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl against the Florida Gators, he made two tackles and one sack.
In his final season in 2023, Chatfield Jr. made 28 tackles (17 solo, 11 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two interceptions for 32 yards, four pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 13 games. He was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on November 6, 2023, after making three tackles (3 solo), three tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups against Colorado.
