The San Antonio Brahmas are set to sign tight end Matt Seybert on Thursday according to Pro Football Newsroom’s James Larsen.
Matt Seybert is six foot four and weighs 250 pounds. The 27-year-old from Traverse City, Michigan, played one season for the Conquerors (TSL) making three catches for 88 yards, and two touchdowns in 2021, and later signed with the Los Angeles Chargers on June 21, 2021, but was released on August 17, 2021. He re-signed with the Chargers on August 21, 2021, but was released four days later.
The Pittsburgh Maulers drafted Seybert in the 34th round (266th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He made five catches for 34 yards, and one touchdown in four games for the Maulers in 2022. In 2023, Seybert made 13 catches for 118 yards in ten games for the Maulers in 2023, of which four were starts. In the playoffs, Seybert caught two passes for 16 yards.
The Maulers re-signed him on August 22, 2023. However, the Maulers were not included in the USFL and XFL merger forming the United Football League and he became a free agent.
Collegiately, Seybert spent one season at the University of Buffalo in 2015 but did not see any action. Then, he transferred to the Michigan State University (2017-19) with 26 catches for 284 yards, and three touchdowns in 20 games for the Spartans.
