The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released linebacker Lourenz Bowers from the practice squad on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Lourenz Bowers-Kane is five foot eleven and weighs 207 pounds. The 24-year-old from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, attended the CFL Combine in Winnipeg and Syracuse’s Pro Day in 2024. He went undrafted in the 2024 CFL Draft. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Bowers-Kane on August 27, 2024, and he spent a week on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Bowers-Kane played three seasons at Western University (2021-23) making 146 tackles (71 solo, 75 assists), 6 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one touchdown in 30 games for the Mustangs.
In 2023, Bowers-Kane made 68 tackles (37 solo, 31 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass breakup, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 11 games. He was named OUA First Team All-Star, Second Team U Sports All-Canadian, and won the Vanier Cup in 2021.
