The Montreal Alouettes signed linebacker Barrington Wade on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Barrington Wade is six foot one and weighs 210 pounds. The 26-year-old from Skokie, Illinois, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2021. The Ravens released him on August 6, 2021.
Next, he was acquired via waivers from the Denver Broncos on August 7, 2021. He made 7 tackles (4 solo, 3 assists) and a half sack in three preseason games to earn a spot on the practice squad. In 2022, Barrington made 11 tackles (10 solo, 1 assist) in two preseason games. The Broncos released him on August 27, 2022.
Then, Barrington signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on May 5, 2023. He played in two preseason games making eight tackles and one tackle on special teams. The Blue Bombers released him on June 4, 2023. Barrington signed with the Chicago Bears on August 8, 2023. He made six tackles (3 solo, 3 assists) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Bears released him on August 29, 2023.
Collegiately, Wade played four seasons at Iowa (2017-20) with 23 tackles (11 solo, 12 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two pass breakups, and two interceptions for 28 yards in 33 games for the Hawkeyes, of which four were starts.
In his final season, Wade made 12 tackles (8 solo, 4 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, two pass breakups, and two interceptions for 28 yards in eight games, of which three were starts.
In high school, Wade earned honorable mention All-America recognition, was named First Team All-State as a senior, earned MVP and Sportsmanship Awards, and was a three-time First Team All-Conference.
