Evan Simon throws for two touchdowns but the Owls lose to Coastal Carolina

The Temple Owls (0-3) hosted the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (3-0) on Saturday afternoon from Lincoln Financial Field. Temple had 314 yards on offense (185 yards passing, 129 yards rushing), and 15 first downs as the Owls lost their third straight game 28-20 to the Chanticleers.

Quarterback Evan Simon completed 17 of 25 passes (68%) for 185 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and 11 carries for four yards. Running back Antwain Littleton had 14 carries for 74 yards and two catches for 34 yards.

Wide receiver Dante Wright made 9 catches for 99 yards, and one touchdown, while John Adams made two catches for 30 yards and one touchdown. Kicker Maddux Trujillo made 2 of 3 field goals with a long of 54 yards. Temple’s defense made 60 tackles, two tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and one sack.

Coastal Carolina had 287 yards on offense (103 yards passing, 184 yards rushing), and 19 first downs. Quarterback Ethan Vasko completed 15 of 21 passes (71.4%) for 103 yards, one touchdown, and 16 carries for 92 yards. Running back Christian Washington had 15 carries for 59 yards, two touchdowns, and two catches for 16 yards.

Wide receiver Christian Washington made one catch for 8 yards, and one touchdown, and Jameson Tucker made four catches for 35 yards. Coastal Carolina’s defense made 60 tackles, one tackle for loss, two sacks, one pass breakup, one interception, and one touchdown.
