The Michigan Panthers re-signed defensive end T.J. Carter on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
T.J. Carter is six foot four and weighs 289 pounds. The 26-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, re-signed with the Michigan Panthers on October 3, 2023. In 2024, Carter made 7 tackles (2 solo, 5 assists), one tackle for loss, and one sack in 9 games. He did not play in the USFL Conference Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions.
After the season, the Panthers released him on August 19, 2024, and he signed with the Arizona Cardinals on August 20, 2024. He played one preseason game against the Denver Broncos making two tackles (2 solo). The Cardinals released him on August 27, 2024.
Carter signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He would later spend time with the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Michigan Panthers drafted Carter in the 24th round (193rd pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. Carter made 24 tackles (11 solo, 13 assists), five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in nine games for the Panthers in 2022.
Carter signed with the New Orleans Saints after the 2022 USFL season on August 9, 2022. It was his second stint with New Orleans. He made two tackles (2 assists) in one game before the Saints released him on August 15, 2022. Then, Carter was acquired off waivers by the Los Angeles Rams on August 16, 2022. He made two tackles (1 solo, 2 assists), in two preseason games and spent the regular season on the practice squad. In the 2023 preseason, Carter made four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) in three games before the Rams released him on August 29, 2023.
Collegiately, Carter played four seasons at Kentucky (2016-19) with 71 tackles (42 solo, 29 assists), 12 tackles for loss, six sacks, and five pass breakups in 50 games, of which 28 were starts for the Wildcats.
