Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker Adam Bighill announced on Thursday that he will miss the rest of the 2024 season as he prepares for knee surgery.

Adam Bighill is five foot ten and weighs 241 pounds. The 35-year-old from Montesano, Washington, made 48 tackles and one sack in 10 games for the Blue Bombers in 2024.

Adam Bighill went undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft. He signed with the B.C. Lions on May 31, 2011. Bighill played six seasons with the Lions (2011-16) making 509 tackles, 70 tackles on special teams, 33 sacks, seven interceptions, one touchdown, and eight forced fumbles in 99 games. He helped the B.C. Lions win the 99th Grey Cup in 2011 over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

After the 2016 season, Bighill signed with the New Orleans Saints on January 5, 2017. He played three games making one tackle (1 solo). The Saints released him on May 14, 2018, and he signed with the Blue Bombers five days later on May 19, 2018.

In six seasons in Winnipeg, Bighill made 430 tackles, one tackle on special teams, 17 sacks, seven interceptions, one touchdown, and six forced fumbles in 91 games appearing in four Grey Cup title games winning two of them in 2019 and 2021 both against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

He is a three-time Grey Cup champion, three-time CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player (2015,2018,2021), three-time Norm Fieldgate Trophy winner (2015, 2018, 2021), eight-time CFL West All-Star (2012-16, 2018, 2021-22), and a six-time CFL All-Star (2012-13, 2015-16, 2018,2021).

Collegiately, Bighill played four seasons at Central Washington (2007-10) making 314 tackles (163 solo, 151 assists), 46 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and seven interceptions in 44 games for the Wildcats. He is currently ranked second all-time in Wildcat history for tackles for loss, fourth in total tackles, and fourth in assisted tackles for an individual career.

Bighill was named GNAC co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2010, First Team All-GNAC in 2010, AFCA First Team All-American in 2010, D2Football.com Second Team All-American in 2010, Don Hansen Football Gazette Third Team All-Region in 2010, Daktronics Second-Team All-Region in 2010, Second Team All-GNAC in 2008 and 2009, CoSIDA Academic All-Region in 2009 and 2010, and was selected to participate in the Cactus Bowl collegiate All-Star Game in 2010.
