Evan Simon throws five touchdowns leading Temple to its first win of the season

The Temple Owls (1-3) hosted the Utah State Aggies (1-3) on Saturday afternoon from Lincoln Financial Field. Temple had 451 yards on offense (271 yards passing, 180 yards rushing), and 20 first downs as the Owls beat the Aggies 45-29 for their first win of the season.

Temple quarterback Evan Simon completed 17 of 27 passes (63%) for 271 yards, five touchdowns, 11 carries for 49 yards, and one touchdown. Temple running back Terrez Worthy had five carries for 48 yards.

Wide receiver Dante Wright made three catches for 116 yards, and one touchdown, while Antwain Littleton made three catches for 33 yards and one touchdown. Temple’s defense made 75 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, six pass breakups, and one interception.

Utah State had 479 yards on offense (293 yards passing, 186 yards rushing), and 26 first downs. Quarterback Spencer Petras completed 26 of 44 passes (59%) for 293 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and three carries for -2 yards. Running back Rahsul Faison had 27 carries for 148 yards and one touchdown.

Wide receiver Jalen Royals made 10 catches for 112 yards, and one touchdown, while Kyrese White made eight catches for 96 yards. Utah State’s defense made 61 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, and two pass breakups.
