Ryan O’Connor throws three touchdowns leading Delaware past Penn

The Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens (3-0) hosted the Penn Quakers (0-1) on Saturday night from Delaware Stadium. Delaware had 375 yards on offense (309 yards passing, 66 yards rushing), and 20 first downs to beat the Quakers 29-23.

Delaware quarterback Ryan O’Connor completed 25 of 43 passes (58%) for 309 yards, three touchdowns, and three carries for -3 yards. Running back Jo’Nathan Silver had 11 carries for 56 yards and one touchdown.

Wide receiver Phil Lutz made seven catches for 144 yards, and two touchdowns, and Jake Thaw made nine catches for 72 yards and one touchdown. Delaware’s defense made 68 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, and three pass breakups.

Penn had 393 yards on offense (228 yards passing, 165 yards rushing), and 20 first downs. Quarterback Aidan Sayin completed 17 of 28 passes (61%) for 228 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, eight carries for -13 yards, and one touchdown. Running back Malachi Hosley had 26 carries for 176 yards, and one catch for -4 yards.

Wide receiver Jared Richardson made five catches for 98 yards, and one touchdown, and Julien Stokes made seven catches for 91 yards. Penn’s defense made 59 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, six pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
