The Edmonton Elks released defensive back Leon O’Neal Jr. on Monday.

Leon O’Neal Jr. is six foot one and weighs 204 pounds. The 25-year-old from Cypress, Texas, signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. The 49ers released him on August 12, 2022.

Next, O’Neal Jr. signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 13, 2023. In 2023, O’Neal Jr. played two preseason games making three tackles, one tackle for loss, and one tackle on special teams. The Roughriders released him on June 4, 2023.

Then, the Edmonton Elks signed O’Neal Jr. on January 17, 2024. In 2024, O’Neal Jr. made 35 tackles and seven tackles on special teams in 11 games.
