The Arlington Renegades re-signed quarterback Holton Ahlers, running back Devin Darrington, wide receiver Juwan Manigo, offensive lineman Adrian Ealy, linebacker Willie Taylor III, defensive backs Jamal Carter and Jamar Summers, and long snapper Antonio Ortiz on Friday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Holton Ahlers is six foot three and weighs 227 pounds. The 24-year-old from Greenville, North Carolina, signed with the Arlington Renegades on December 26, 2023. In 2024, he made one carry for -1 yard in three games.
Ahlers signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. He completed 16 of 27 passes (59.3%) for 159 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and 15 carries for 76 yards in three preseason games, and earned a spot on the practice squad. The Seahawks released him on October 18, 2023.
Collegiately, Ahlers played five seasons at East Carolina University (2018-22) completing 1,127 of 1,857 passes (61%) for 13,938 yards, 97 touchdowns, 37 interceptions, 469 carries for 1,447 yards, 25 touchdowns, made three catches for 41 yards, one touchdown, two punts for 54 yards (27 AVG), one touchback, one from inside the 20-yard line, and four tackles (4 solo) in 55 games for the Pirates.
In the 2022 TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl, Ahlers completed 26 of 38 passes (68.4%) for 300 yards, five touchdowns, seven carries for 48 yards, one touchdown, and made one catch for 14 yards helping the Pirates beat the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 53-29. He was named the MVP.
Devin Darrington is five foot nine and weighs 205 pounds. The 25-year-old from Forest Hill, Maryland, had 67 carries for 294 yards, four touchdowns, and nine catches for 85 yards in seven games for the Orlando Guardians in 2023. The Arlington Renegades drafted Darrington in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft and he was released on March 21, 2024. Darrington re-signed with the Renegades on May 7, 2024. In 2024, Darrington had 19 carries for 74 yards, and one catch for -5 yards in four games.
Collegiately, Darrington played three seasons at Harvard University (2017-19) with 259 carries for 1,177 yards, 12 touchdowns, and eight catches for 70 yards in 22 games for the Crimson. He was named Second Team All-Ivy League in 2019. Then, Darrington transferred to Virginia in 2021 with 32 carries for 237 yards, two touchdowns, and four catches for 53 yards in 12 games for the Cavaliers.
Juwan Manigo is five foot seven and weighs 175 pounds. The 26-year-old from Windsor Mill, Maryland, signed with the Arlington Renegades on June 26, 2023. In 2024, Manigo made six catches for 32 yards, 43 kick returns for 954 yards, and 14 punt returns for 135 yards in 10 games.
Manigo played for the Caudillos (LFA) in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, Manigo made 42 catches for 900 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 2,174 all-purpose yards in nine games. He was named the Soy-Fam MVP. In 2023, he made 53 catches for 1,015 yards, 9 touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, 1,225 return yards, five special teams touchdowns, and 2,265 total yards.
Collegiately, Manigo played four seasons at Delaware Valley (2016-19) making 62 catches for 960 yards, 8 touchdowns, six carries for 40 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 35 games for the Aggies. He was named to the MAC Fall Academic Honor Roll.
Adrian Ealy is six foot six and weighs 321 pounds. The 25-year-old from Gonzales, Louisiana, was drafted by the Renegades in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Ealy played nine games, of which six were starts. Arlington’s offense ranked second in total yards (3,119), passing yards (2,277), yards per game (311.9), sixth in rushing (842) and tied third for touchdowns (27).
Ealy signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2021. He also had stints with the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers, and Pittsburgh Steelers. He signed with the Seattle Sea Dragons on October 23, 2023. However, the Sea Dragons were not included in the XFL and USFL merger that formed the United Football League (UFL).
Collegiately, Ealy played three seasons at Oklahoma (2018-20) playing right tackle and left tackle in 28 games, of which 23 were starts for the Sooners. He was named a two-time Second Team All-Big 12. In 2020, he allowed three sacks on 421 pass plays according to PFF.
Willie Taylor III is six foot four and weighs 246 pounds. The 25-year-old from Cochran, Georgia, re-signed with the Renegades on November 21, 2023. In 2024, Taylor III made 17 tackles (9 solo, 8 assists), three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 10 games.
Taylor III signed with the Arlington Renegades on January 13, 2023. In 2023, he made 16 tackles (11 solo, 5 assists), eight tackles for loss, four sacks, three pass breakups, one interception, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 10 games.
The Renegades released him on May 16, 2023, and he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on May 17, 2023. He made one tackle (1 assist) in two preseason games. The Jaguars released him on August 29, 2023.
Collegiately, Taylor III played four seasons at Washington State (2018-21) making 69 tackles (39 solo, 30 assists), 16 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, one interception for 40 yards, three pass breakups, and five forced fumbles in 40 games for the Cougars. Then, Taylor III transferred to Eastern Kentucky University in 2022 making 34 tackles (18 solo, 16 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and three pass breakups in 11 games for the Colonels.
Jamal Carter is six foot one and weighs 215 pounds. The 29-year-old from Naranja, Florida, re-signed with the Renegades on January 26, 2024. In 2024, Carter made 44 tackles (28 solo, 16 assists), one tackle for loss, and three pass breakups in seven games.
Carter signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He played one season in Denver with 11 tackles (9 solo, 2 assists), and one pass breakup in 16 games. Next, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2019 with 15 tackles (9 solo, 6 assists), and one pass breakup in 12 games.
Then, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals before heading to the Tennessee Titans. He played one regular season game for the Titans recording no stats. Arlington drafted Carter in the second round (14th pick) of the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft. In 2023, Carter made 17 tackles (9 solo, 8 assists) in three games for the Arlington Renegades helping them win the XFL Championship over the D.C. Defenders.
Collegiately, Carter played four seasons at Miami (FL) (2013-16) making 164 tackles (95 solo, 69 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 48 yards, 10 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and four kick returns for 60 yards in 43 games for the Hurricanes.
Jamar Summers is five foot eleven and weighs 193 pounds. The 29-year-old from Orange, New Jersey, signed with the Arlington Renegades on January 29, 2024. In 2024, Summers made 9 tackles (8 solo, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in 10 games.
Summers signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2018. He made seven tackles (4 solo, 3 assists) in four preseason games. The Steelers released him on September 1, 2018. He also had stints with the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions. In 2019, he played for the Birmingham Iron (AAF) making 20 tackles (15 solo, 5 assists), three interceptions for 10 yards, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in eight games before the league folded.
Summers was drafted by the New York Guardians (XFL) in the 2020 XFL Draft. In 2020, Summers made 16 tackles (13 solo, 3 assists), and one interception for 16 yards before COVID-19 ended the XFL season.
Next, Summers was drafted by the Houston Gamblers (USFL) in the eighth round (66th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. In 2022, Summers made 25 tackles (23 solo, 2 assists), and two tackles for loss in eight games.
Then, Summers signed with the Vegas Vipers on March 28, 2023. In 2023, he made 14 tackles (8 solo, 6 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception, and four pass breakups in four games. The Vipers released him in July 2023.
Collegiately, Summers played four seasons at UConn (2014-17) making 183 tackles (133 solo, 50 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, 12 interceptions for 102 yards, two touchdowns, 33 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 48 games for the Huskies.
Antonio Ortiz is six foot four and weighs 247 pounds. The 24-year-old from Mechanicsville, Virginia, re-signed with the Arlington Renegades on January 22, 2024. He played ten games in 2024.
In 2024, Ortiz helped kicker Jonathan Garibay finish sixth field goals (13 of 18 (92.9%)), with a long of 48 yards, Taylor Russolino made 5 of 6 field goals (83.3%) with a long of 52 yards finishing last in the league, and punter Marquette King finished sixth in punting yards with 28 punts for 1,358 yards (48.5 AVG).
Ortiz signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2022. He was released on July 13, 2022. The Arlington Renegades drafted Ortiz in the second round (16th pick) in Phase 5 of the 2023 XFL Draft. He played 9 games helping kicker Taylor Russolino make 16 of 19 field goals (84.2%) and punter Marquette King made 40 punts for 1,858 yards (46.4 AVG) as the Renegades won the XFL Championship over the D.C. Defenders.
Collegiately, Ortiz played four seasons at TCU (2018-21) making two tackles (2 solo) in 44 games for the Horned Frogs. He was named a three-time First Team Academic All-Big 12.
