The Villanova Wildcats (4-1) hosted the Long Island University Sharks (0-5) on Saturday night from Villanova Stadium. Villanova had 392 yards on offense (128 yards passing, 264 yards rushing), and 22 first downs to beat the Sharks 24-10.
Villanova quarterback Connor Watkins completed 10 of 18 passes (55%) for 128 yards, and eight carries for 30 yards. Running back Isaiah Ragland had 14 carries for 47 yards, and two touchdowns, while David Avit had 24 carries for 160 yards, and one touchdown.
Wide receiver Jaylan Sanchez made two catches for 55 yards, while Devin Smith made four catches for 29 yards. Villanova’s defense made 35 tackles, one tackle for loss, one fumble recovery, and three pass breakups.
Long Island quarterback Luca Stanzani completed 11 of 24 passes (46%) for 80 yards, and one carry for -5 yards. Running back Pat Bowen had seven carries for 36 yards and one touchdown.
Wide receiver Michael Love made three catches for 36 yards, while Evan Brooks made two catches for 18 yards. Long Island’s defense made 68 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup.
