The Penn State Nittany Lions (4-0) hosted the Illinois Fighting Illini (4-1) on Saturday night from Beaver Stadium. Penn State had 374 yards on offense (135 yards passing, 239 yards rushing), and 24 first downs leading them to a 21-7 win over Illinois.
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar completed 15 of 21 passes (71.4%) for 135 yards, and four carries for 15 yards. Running back Kaytron Allen had 18 carries for 102 yards, while Nicholas Singleton had 16 carries for 94 yards, and one touchdown, and tight end Tyler Warren had two carries for 13 yards, one touchdown, and made four catches for 34 yards.
Wide receiver Harrison Wallace III made four catches for 50 yards, and Julian Fleming made two catches for 9 yards. Penn State’s defense made 57 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, seven sacks, three pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one interception.
Illinois had 219 yards on offense (185 yards passing, 34 yards rushing), and 17 first downs. Quarterback Luke Altmyer completed 16 of 25 passes (64%) for 185 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and 15 carries for -28 yards. Running back Kaden Feagin had 13 carries for 64 yards and made two catches for 12 yards.
Wide receiver Zakhari Franklin made four catches for 49 yards, while Carson Goda made one catch for four yards and one touchdown. Illinois’s defense made 71 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, and one fumble recovery.
