The Calgary Stampeders released defensive tackle Brandon Matterson from the practice squad on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Brandon Matterson is six foot two and weighs 295 pounds. The 24-year-old from San Antonio, Texas, signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The Broncos released him on August 2, 2024. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed him on August 19, 2024. The Buccaneers released him on August 27, 2024. The Calgary Stampeders signed Matterson on September 29, 2024.

Collegiately, Matterson played six seasons at the University of Texas-San Antonio (2018-23) making 101 tackles (45 solo, 56 assists), 15.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass breakup in 59 games for the Roadrunners. In 2023, Matterson made 14 tackles (7 solo, 7 assists), six tackles for loss, five sacks, and one forced fumble in 12 games.
