The Toronto Argonauts signed offensive lineman Sage Doxtater on Saturday.
Sage Doxtater is six foot seven and weighs 350 pounds. The 25-year-old from London, Ontario, was drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft and he signed with St. Louis on January 24, 2024. However, he was placed on injured reserve on March 10, 2024, and missed the entire season.
Doxtater was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the second round (12th pick) in the 2021 CFL Draft but chose to return to New Mexico State for his final season.
Doxtater would sign with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. The Saints released him on August 23, 2022. Next, Doxtater signed with the Arizona Cardinals on October 26, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad.
The Cardinals released him on November 15, 2022, and he returned to New Orleans on January 4, 2023. Then, Doxtater signed with the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) in 2023 and played left tackle in five games.
Collegiately, Doxtater played six seasons at New Mexico State University (2016-21) playing left tackle in 49 games for the Aggies. In 2019, New Mexico State’s offense averaged 217.6 passing yards per game, and 143.5 rushing yards per game. He was named to the 2016 Sun Belt Conference All-Newcomer Team.
