The Villanova Wildcats (5-1) visited Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Stony Brook Seawolves (4-2). Villanova had 432 yards on offense (152 yards passing, 280 yards rushing), and 19 first downs to beat the Seawolves 42-24.

Villanova quarterback Connor Watkins completed 9 of 19 passes (47.4%) for 152 yards, one touchdown, and five carries for 27 yards. Running back David Avit had 13 carries for 183 yards, and four touchdowns, while Ja’briel Mace had 13 carries for 46 yards and one touchdown.

Wide receiver Jaylan Sanchez made three catches for 38 yards, while Lucas Kopecky made one catch for 26 yards, and one touchdown. Villanova’s defense made 83 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and two pass breakups.

Stony Brook had 310 yards on offense (147 yards passing, 163 yards rushing), and 18 first downs. Quarterback Tyler Knoop completed 22 of 32 passes (69%) for 147 yards, one interception, and 11 carries for 37 yards. Running back Roland Dempster had 24 carries for 115 yards, three touchdowns, and six catches for 41 yards.

Tight end Cal Redman made three catches for 50 yards, and Shakhi Carson made seven catches for 22 yards. Stony Brook’s defense made 48 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, one fumble recovery, and two pass breakups.
