Rutgers fall to Nebraska for their first loss of the season

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-1) visited War Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-1). Rutgers had 264 yards on offense (186 yards passing, 78 yards rushing), and 18 first downs in a 14-7 loss.

Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis completed 15 of 37 passes (41%) for 186 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and nine carries for -12 yards. Running back Kyle Monangai had 19 carries for 78 yards, and made two catches for 18 yards.

Wide receiver Ben Black made two catches for 54 yards, and one touchdown, while K.J. Duff made three catches for 43 yards. Rutgers’s defense made 60 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one interception, four sacks, and five pass breakups.

Nebraska had 261 yards on offense (164 yards passing, 97 yards rushing), and 15 first downs. Quarterback Dylan Raiola completed 13 of 27 passes (48.1%) for 134 yards, and one interception. Running back Dante Dowdell had 14 carries for 57 yards, and one touchdown, while Janiran Bonner had one carry for 11 yards and one touchdown.

Wide receiver Jaylen Lloyd made two catches for 44 yards, and Rahmir Johnson made three catches for 40 yards. Nebraska’s defense made 57 tackles, nine tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, and nine pass breakups.
