The Saskatchewan Roughriders released running back SaRodorick Thompson Jr. from the practice squad on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page.
SaRodorick Thompson Jr. is six foot and weighs 220 pounds. The 25-year-old from Irving, Texas, signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2023. The Saints released him on June 15, 2023. Next, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks on July 31, 2023.
In 2023, he played three preseason games 21 carries for 81 yards, two touchdowns, and four catches for 11 yards to earn a spot on the practice squad. He appeared in one regular season game for the Seahawks in 2023. The Seahawks released him on December 8, 2023, and he signed with the Dallas Cowboys on January 4, 2024.
Then, Thompson Jr. signed with the Los Angeles Rams on August 22, 2024. In 2024 with the Los Angeles Rams, he played one preseason game with three carries for six yards. The Rams released him on August 25, 2024. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Thompson Jr. on August 27, 2024, and spent over a month on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Thompson Jr. played five seasons at Texas Tech (2018-22) with 540 carries for 2,664 yards, 40 touchdowns, 91 catches for 520 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 tackles (2 solo) in 50 games for the Red Raiders.
In 2022, Thompson Jr. had 139 carries for 684 yards, 7 touchdowns, 23 catches for 119 yards, and one touchdown in 13 games. He was named a three-time All-Big XII Honorable Mention and invited to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and the Reese’s Senior Bowl. His 41 touchdowns ranked among the all-time leaders.
