The Saskatchewan Roughriders released quarterback Michael Hiers, wide receiver Tre Mosley, defensive lineman Zion Tupuola-Fetui, linebacker Braxton Hill, and defensive back Robert Javier.

Michael Hiers is six foot one and weighs 215 pounds. The 25-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama, attended the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie minicamp in 2024. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Hiers on September 17, 2024, and spent a month on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Hiers played one season at Murray State in 2019 completing one pass for four yards, and three carries for 19 yards in two games for the Racers. Next, he transferred to Northwest Mississippi Community College (2020-21) completing 306 of 469 passes (65%) for 4,519 yards, 34 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 72 carries for -23 yards, and six touchdowns in 18 games for the Rangers.

He was named First Team All-American by JCGridiron.com, two-time First Team All-MACCC, All-Mississippi Gridiron MVP, and the co-MACCC Offensive Player of the Year.

Then, Hiers transferred to Samford (2022-23) completing 668 of 903 passes (74%) for 6,600 yards, 54 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 182 carries for 97 yards, six touchdowns, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 24 games for the Bulldogs.

In 2023, Hiers completed 315 of 442 passes (71%) for 3,056 yards, 18 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 73 carries for -66 yards, and three touchdowns. He helped the Bulldogs win their first SoCon title in school history and reach the FCS playoffs for the first time since 1991.

He was named Second Team All-American by AP, Third Team All-American by STATS, First Team All-Southern Conference, and Second Team All-Southern Conference. Hiers ranked in the top 10 nationally in completion percentage (76.6%/1st), completions per game (27.15/3rd), passing efficiency (165.2/8th), passing touchdowns (36/4th), and passing yards (3,544/6th).

Tre Mosley is six foot one and weighs 196 pounds. The 23-year-old from Pontiac, Michigan, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The Bengals released him on August 7, 2024. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Mosley on September 15, 2024, and spent a month on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Mosley played five seasons at Michigan State (2019-23) making 126 catches for 1,464 yards, 10 touchdowns, two carries for -1 yard, and three tackles (3 solo) in 43 games for the Spartans. In 2023, he made 28 catches for 288 yards, two touchdowns, and two tackles (2 solo) in eight games.

He became the 48th Spartan receiver to reach 1,000 career receiving yards, and finished his career ranked tied for No. 17 on MSU’s career receptions list (126), tied for No. 25 on MSU’s career TDs list (10), and No. 28 on MSU’s career receiving yards list (1,464).

Zion Tupuola-Fetui is six foot four and weighs 254 pounds. The 24-year-old from Pearl City, Hawai’i, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Tupuola-Fetui on September 15, 2024, and he spent a month on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Tupuola-Fetui played six seasons at Washington (2018-23) making 88 tackles (58 solo, 30 assists), 18.5 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, two pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 50 games for the Huskies.

In the 2019 Las Vegas Bowl against Boise State, Tupuola-Fetui made one tackle (1 assist) when the Huskies beat the Broncos 38-7. In 2023, Tupuola-Fetui made 29 tackles (15 solo, 14 assists), five tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 2023.

In the 2024 Sugar Bowl against the Texas Longhorns, Tupuola-Fetui made one tackle (1 solo) as the Huskies beat the Longhorns 37-31. They went on to lose the National Championship against Michigan. He was named First Team All-PAC 12 in 2020, and a two-time All-PAC 12 Honorable Mention.

Braxton Hill is six foot two and weighs 225 pounds. The 24-year-old from Anaconda, Montana, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Hill on September 16, 2024, and spent several weeks on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Hill played five seasons at Montana (2019-23) making 231 tackles (76 solo, 155 assists), 17 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two interceptions for 34 yards, one touchdown, eight pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 51 games for the Grizzlies.

In 2023, Hill made 128 tackles (43 solo, 85 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions for 34 yards, one touchdown, five pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 15 games. He led the Big Sky Conference and finished fifth in the FCS with 128 tackles.

Hill was named First Team All-Big Sky Conference, Second Team All-American by STATS, Third Team All-American by Phil Steele and Associated Press, a two-time Academic All-Big Sky, Team Defensive MVP, Co-Recipient of Tony Barbour Award, and a Buck Buchanan Award Finalist.

Robert Javier is six foot one and weighs 195 pounds. The 24-year-old from Bronx, New York, signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. Javier played three preseason games making one tackle (1 solo). The Titans released him on August 27, 2024. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Javier on September 25, 2024, and spent three weeks on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Javier played four seasons at Towson (2019, 2021-23) making 77 tackles (55 solo, 22 assists), half a tackle for loss, six interceptions for 212 yards, two touchdowns, and 26 pass breakups in 36 games for the Tigers.

In 2022, Javier made 37 tackles (25 solo, 12 assists), half a tackle for loss, two interceptions for 167 yards, two touchdowns, and 14 pass breakups in 10 games. He finished the season tied for first in the CAA in pass breakups and tied a Towson single-season record with pick-six touchdowns.

In 2023, Javier made 29 tackles (22 solo, 7 assists), four interceptions for 45 yards, and 12 pass breakups in 11 games. His four interceptions led Towson and finished second in the CAA in that category. He was named a two-time Second All-CAA by Phil Steele (2022-23) and Second Team All-CAA in 2023.
