The Arlington Renegades re-signed quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. and linebacker Donald Payne on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Lindsey Scott Jr. is five foot eleven and weighs 220 pounds. The 26-year-old from Zachary, Louisiana, was drafted by the Arlington Renegades in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Scott Jr. completed 6 of 7 passes (85.7%) for 48 yards, one touchdown, 20 carries for 72 yards, and two touchdowns in nine games.

Scott Jr. went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL) drafted him in the first round (2nd pick) of the 2023 USFL College Draft. He was also drafted by the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) in the 2023 XFL Rookie Draft. Scott Jr. chose to sign with the Roughnecks.

However, the Roughnecks folded after the XFL and USFL merged to form the United Football League, and the Roughnecks name was transferred to the Houston Gamblers as part of their rebrand.

Collegiately, Scott Jr. started as a redshirt Freshman at LSU in 2016 and did not play for the Tigers. Next, he transferred to East Mississippi Community College in 2017 completing 258 of 398 passes (64.8%) for 3,481 yards, 29 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 161 carries for 729 yards, and six touchdowns in 12 games for the Lions leading them to win the National Championship and the MACJC state title.

Then, Scott Jr. transferred to Missouri in 2018 but did not play for the Tigers. After Missouri, he transferred to Nicholls State University (2020-21) completing 293 of 485 passes (60%) for 3,767 yards, 34 touchdowns, 18 touchdowns, 235 carries for 1,547 yards, and 15 touchdowns in 18 games for the Colonels. He was an All-Southland Conference Honorable Mention. He ranks sixth all-time in career passing yards (3,767).

Scott Jr. concluded his collegiate career at Incarnate Word in 2022 completing 322 of 454 passes (71%) for 4,686 yards, 60 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 132 carries for 712 yards, 11 touchdowns, one catch for six yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 14 games for the Cardinals.

He was named First Team All-American, Southland Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-Southland Conference, and the winner of the Walter Payton Award in 2022.

Donald Payne is six foot and weighs 228 pounds. The 30-year-old from Fayetteville, Georgia, re-signed with the Arlington Renegades on January 23, 2024. In 2024, he made 63 tackles (30 solo, 33 assists), four tackles for loss, two sacks, and two forced fumbles in 10 games.

Payne signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2017. He also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Football Team, Miami Dolphins, and San Francisco 49ers. He played three seasons in Jacksonville making 76 tackles (47 solo, 29 assists), three tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, and two fumble recoveries in 30 games.

The Houston Gamblers (USFL) drafted Payne in the 30th round (246th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. In 2022, he made 117 tackles (71 solo, 46 assists), six tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, two touchdowns, and one forced fumble in 10 games. He was named to the All-USFL Team.

The Arlington Renegades (XFL) drafted Payne in the third round (19th pick) in the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft. In 2023, Payne made 51 tackles (22 solo, 39 assists), five tackles for loss, three interceptions, two touchdowns, half a sack, and three pass breakups in eight games helping Arlington win the XFL Championship.

Collegiately, Payne played four seasons at Stetson University (2013-16) making 538 tackles (343 solo, 195 assists), 65.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, nine interceptions for 14 yards, 42 pass breakups, 7 forced fumbles, 8 fumble recoveries, three blocked kicks, seven punt returns for 44 yards, and one touchdown in 44 games for the Hatters.

He was named a three-time FCS All-American, three-time PFL Defensive Player of the Year, and was inducted into the Stetson University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.
