The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released offensive lineman Dayton Black from the practice squad on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Dayton Black is six foot six and weighs 295 pounds. The 24-year-old from Brandon, Manitoba, was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the first round (6th pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. In 2023, he dressed in 17 games, of which one was a start.

This season, Black started on the six-game injured list before moving to the practice squad. The Ticats released him on October 2, 2024. He re-signed with the Ticats on October 5, 2024, and spent nine days on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Black played three seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2018-22) playing 30 games for the Huskies. He was named a Canada West All-Star (2022). He began his career as a defensive lineman before switching to the offensive line in 2021.
