The St. Louis Battlehawks signed wide receiver Denzel Mims on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Denzel Mims is six foot three and weighs 207 pounds. The 27-year-old from Daingerfield, Texas, was drafted by the New York Jets in the second round (59th pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He played three seasons in New York making 42 catches for 676 yards in 30 games, of which 15 were starts. The Jets traded Mims to the Detroit Lions on July 20, 2023, for a conditional seventh-round pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Lions released Mims on August 24, 2023. The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Mims on October 3, 2023, spending the season on the practice squad. The Steelers released him on June 18, 2024. The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Mims on June 20, 2024. He played three preseason games making one catch for seven yards. The Jaguars released him on August 25, 2024.
Collegiately, Mims played four seasons at Baylor (2016-19) making 186 catches for 2,925 yards, 28 touchdowns, one carry for -6 yards, one kick return for 18 yards, and three tackles (3 solo) in 49 games for the Bears. He was named First Team All-Big XII in 2019. Mims ranks sixth in program history in career receiving yards (2,925), and fifth in career receptions (186).
