The Ottawa Redblacks released running back Percy Agyei-Obese, offensive lineman Kendrick Sartor, and linebacker Cam Bright from the practice squad. Defensive lineman Jake Heimlicher is now listed as a future active which means his contract begins in 2025 on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Percy Agyei-Obese is six foot and weighs 213 pounds. The 25-year-old from Frederick, Maryland, signed with the B.C. Lions on December 27, 2023. He played two preseason games with nine carries for 39 yards, and four catches for 18 yards. The Lions released him on June 2, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Agyei-Obese on September 11, 2024, and spent several weeks on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Agyei-Obese played six seasons at James Madison University (2017-22) with 694 carries for 3,503 yards, 39 touchdowns, 18 catches for 119 yards, and one kick return for 16 yards in 60 games for the Dukes.
In 2022, Agyei-Obese had 159 carries for 908 yards, eight touchdowns, and two catches for 11 yards in ten games. He was a two-time First Team All-CAA and three-time VaSID First Team All-State.
Kendrick Sartor is six foot seven and weighs 316 pounds. The 25-year-old from Cincinnati, Ohio, signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on May 2, 2023. He started six games for the Ticats in 2023 playing right tackle.
Hamilton’s offense finished seventh in points per game (22.7), fifth in offensive points per game (20.9), fifth in offensive touchdowns (35), fourth in net offense per game (352.0), seventh in rushing yards per game (96.7), and four in sacks allowed (46).
He re-signed with the Ticats on November 28, 2023. He played in two preseason games for the Ticats in 2024 and was released on June 1, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Sartor on September 16, 2024, and he spent a month on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Sartor played six seasons at Marshall University (2017-22) starting 24 games at right tackle in 33 games for the Thundering Herd. In 2020, he played six games including the C-USA Championship Game and the Camellia Bowl.
In 2022, Sartor started 12 of 13 games for the Marshall Thundering Herd in 2022 playing right tackle. Marshall’s offense averaged 205.9 rushing yards per game, 192 yards passing per game, and 5,173 total yards. Marshall played in the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl and defeated the Connecticut Huskies 28-14. Sartor won the team’s President’s Award in 2022.
Jake Heimlicher is six foot four and weighs 255 pounds. The 25-year-old from Aurora, Colorado, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and attended the New York Giants rookie minicamp. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Heimlicher on October 8, 2024.
Collegiately, Heimlicher played four seasons at Penn (2018-19, 2021-22) making 112 tackles (60 solo, 52 assists), 27.5 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, one interception for four yards, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 31 games for the Quakers. He was named First Team All-Ivy and Third Team All-American by the Associated Press in 2022.
Then, Heimlicher transferred to UCLA in 2023 making seven tackles (5 solo, 2 assists), one tackle for loss, and one pass breakup in 12 games for the Bruins.
Cam Bright is six foot and weighs 222 pounds. The 25-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio, made two tackles (2 solo) in three preseason games for the Cleveland Browns in 2023. The Seattle Seahawks signed Bright as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023.
The Calgary Stampeders signed Bright on February 14, 2024. He played in two preseason games making four tackles and two tackles on special teams. The Stampeders released him on June 1, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Bright on September 18, 2024, and spent a month on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Bright played four seasons at Pittsburgh (2018-21) making 186 tackles (110 solo, 76 assists), 24.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, one interception, one touchdown, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 52 games for the Panthers.
Then, he transferred to Washington in 2022 making 60 tackles (31 solo, 29 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception, and one pass breakup in 13 games for the Huskies. He was named an All-PAC 12 Honorable Mention and Third Team All-PAC 12 by Phil Steele in 2022.
