The Ottawa Redblacks released wide receiver Ffrench and defensive lineman Andrew Chatfield Jr. from the practice squad on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page. These releases are an addition to the players they released earlier on Friday.

Maurice Ffrench is five foot eleven and weighs 200 pounds. The 25-year-old from New Brunswick, New Jersey, signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on August 2, 2023, and spent the rest of the season on the practice squad. The Redblacks released him on April 22, 2024.

Ffrench signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2020, making the practice squad, and later signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022, playing three games with one catch for three yards.

Then, Ffrench signed with the Edmonton Elks on November 23, 2022. Ffrench made 15 catches for 190 yards, and one touchdown in four games for the Elks in 2023 before he was released on July 24, 2023. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Ffrench on August 28, 2024, and spent several weeks on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Ffrench played four seasons at the University of Pittsburgh (2016-19) with 156 catches for 1,637 yards, ten touchdowns, 49 carries for 379 yards, four touchdowns, 27 kick returns for 652 yards, two touchdowns, and 28 punt returns for 164 yards in 46 games for the Panthers. He was named to the All-ACC third team in 2019.

Andrew Chatfield Jr. is six foot two and weighs 254 pounds. The 25-year-old from Plantations, Florida, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Chatfield Jr. on September 4, 2024, and spent over a month on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Chatfield Jr. played three seasons at Florida (2018-20) making 19 tackles (5 solo, 14 assists), 5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 23 games for the Gators. Then, he transferred to Oregon State (2022-23). In 2022, he made 20 tackles (10 solo, 10 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble in 12 games. In the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl against the Florida Gators, he made two tackles and one sack.

In his final season in 2023, Chatfield Jr. made 28 tackles (17 solo, 11 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two interceptions for 32 yards, four pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 13 games. He was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on November 6, 2023, after making three tackles (3 solo), three tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups against Colorado.
