The Wroclaw Panthers signed quarterback Demarcus “D.J.” Irons for the 2025 season on Friday.
Demarcus “D.J.” Irons is six foot four and weighs 215 pounds. A native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Irons completed 88 of 133 passes (66%) for 722 yards, three touchdowns, three interceptions, 61 carries for 215 yards, two touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in five games for Akron in 2023.
Collegiately, Irons was a redshirt Freshman at Eastern Kentucky University in 2018 and did not play for the Colonels. Next, he transferred to Iowa Central Community College in 2019 completing 115 of 185 passes (62.2%) for 2,039 yards, 21 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 105 carries for 274 yards, and five touchdowns in 11 games for the Titans.
He earned JUCO All-American honors and was named the ICCAC Player of the Year. Then, he transferred to Akron (2021-23) completing 419 of 633 passes (66%) for 21 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, 285 carries for 825 yards, 8 touchdowns, and three tackles (3 solo) in 23 games for the Zips.
Irons was named Third Team All-MAC in 2022 after completing 253 of 380 passes (67%) for 2,609 yards, 10 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 133 carries for 314 yards, four touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 10 games.
