B.C. Lions release four players from the practice squad

The B.C. Lions released wide receiver Devron Harper, offensive lineman Larnel Coleman, and defensive linemen Amir Siddiqi and Terrance Taylor from the practice squad on Sunday.

Devron Harper is five foot nine and weighs 170 pounds. The 24-year-old from Conyers, Georgia, signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The Vikings released him on June 17, 2024. The B.C. Lions signed Harper on September 23, 2024, and spent several weeks on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Harper played two seasons at Gardner-Webb University (2019-20) making 67 catches for 824 yards, four touchdowns, seven carries for 14 yards, 40 kick returns for 999 yards, one touchdown, 20 punt returns for 219 yards, two touchdowns, one tackle (1 solo), and one forced fumble in 16 games for the Runnin’ Bulldogs.

Then, Harper transferred to Mercer (2021-23) making 159 catches for 1,929 yards, 13 touchdowns, 56 carries for 458 yards, six touchdowns, 55 kick returns for 1,346 yards, one touchdown, 44 punt returns for 625 yards, three touchdowns, and two tackles (2 solo) in 34 games for the Bears.

In 2023, Harper made 57 catches for 549 yards, two touchdowns, 26 carries for 185 yards, one touchdown, 22 kick returns for 503 yards, 27 punt returns for 271 yards, and two touchdowns in 13 games.

In 2022, Harper was named First Team All-SoCon, a Walter Payton Award Finalist, and he broke six school records. He finished the 2022 season making 78 catches for 987 yards, 10 touchdowns, 25 carries for 199 yards, four touchdowns, 18 kick returns for 523 yards, one touchdown, 10 punt returns for 169 yards, one touchdown, and two tackles (2 solo) in 11 games.

Larnel Coleman is six foot six and weighs 310 pounds. The 26-year-old from Malden, Massachusetts, signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on March 18, 2024. He played in two preseason games and was placed on the practice squad. The Blue Bombers released him on June 3, 2024. The B.C. Lions signed Coleman on September 3, 2024, and spent several weeks on the practice squad.

Coleman was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round (231st pick) in the 2021 NFL Draft. He did not play in 2021 due to a knee injury. In 2022, he played one game for the Dolphins before spending time on their practice squad. However, Coleman signed with the Carolina Panthers on October 25, 2022. He was released by the Panthers on August 26, 2023, after playing three preseason games.

Coleman signed with the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) on December 13, 2023, but the original Roughnecks were not included in the XFL and USFL merger that formed the United Football League (UFL).

Instead, the Houston Gamblers (USFL) were rebranded as the Roughnecks. The Birmingham Stallions drafted Coleman in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft but released him on March 10, 2024.

Collegiately, Coleman played four seasons at the University of Massachusetts (2017-20) playing both tackle positions in 36 games for the Minutemen. In 2018, UMass ranked 14th in FBS in passing offense (298.1 yards per game), 16th in passing efficiency (153.91), and 34th in total offense (437.6 yards per game).

Amir Siddiqi is six foot two and weighs 245 pounds. The 26-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, made six tackles, one tackle on special teams, one sack, and one forced fumble in 10 games this season. The B.C. Lions signed Siddiqi on May 8, 2023. In 2023, he made 13 tackles, 6 tackles, and one sack in 18 games.

Collegiately, Siddiqi played five seasons at Central Michigan (2017-21) making 60 tackles (35 solo, 25 assists), 16.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and one forced fumble in 39 games for the Chippewas. He earned All-Mid-American Conference Fourth Team honors from Phil Steele in 2021. Then, he transferred to Charlotte in 2022 making 18 tackles (9 solo, 9 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks for the 49ers. He was named Second Team All-Conference USA.

Terrance Taylor is six foot three and weighs 229 pounds. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Taylor worked out for the Detroit Lions before the 2024 NFL Draft on April 9, 2024. He went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The B.C. Lions signed Taylor on September 23, 2024, and spent several weeks on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Taylor played five seasons at Toledo (2018-23) making 123 tackles (60 solo, 63 assists), 28 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, four pass breakups, and five forced fumbles in 46 games for the Rockets. In 2023, Taylor made 37 tackles (16 solo, 21 assists), six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 11 games.

He was named the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week in 2023 against Illinois making six tackles (4 solo, 2 assists), three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
