The Calgary Stampeders signed wide receiver Kaylon Horton to a future contract starting in 2025 on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Kaylon Horton is five foot nine and weighs 173 pounds. A native of Houston, Texas, Horton attended rookie minicamps with the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts in 2024.
Collegiately, Horton played three seasons at Tarleton State (2019-21) playing wide receiver and defensive back making 18 catches for 227 yards, one touchdown, 31 kick returns for 693 yards, one touchdown, 35 punt returns for 225 yards, one touchdown, 29 tackles (17 solo, 12 assists), two tackles for loss, one interception for 15 yards, and 8 pass breakups in 27 games for the Texans.
Then, Horton transferred to North Texas (2022-23) making 18 catches for 175 yards, two touchdowns, 11 carries for 115 yards, two touchdowns, 60 kick returns for 1,394 yards, and one touchdown in 25 games for the Mean Green. In 2023, Horton made six catches for 44 yards, one touchdown, four carries for 20 yards, and 33 kick returns for 695 yards in 12 games.
In high school, Horton competed three years in track and field and one year in football. In track and field, Horton competed in the triple jump, long jump, 4x100m, 4x200m, and 200m. In the state championship, the team ran 40.2 in the 4x100m.
