The Arlington Renegades re-signed punter Marquette King Jr. on Friday according to Pro Football Newsroom’s James Larsen.
Marquette King Jr. is six foot and weighs 192 pounds. The 35-year-old from Macon, Georgia, re-signed with the Arlington Renegades on January 29, 2024. In 2024, King Jr. punted the ball 28 times for 1,358 yards (48.5 AVG) with a long of 63 yards, four touchbacks, 11 punts from inside the 20-yard line, and one kickoff for 63 yards in 10 games. He was named to the All-UFL Team in 2024.
King Jr. went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft and signed with the Oakland Raiders on April 29, 2012. He played five seasons in Oakland punting the ball 426 times for 19,941 yards (46.8 AVG) with a long of 72 yards, 33 touchbacks, 156 punts from inside the 20-yard line, four carries for 13 yards, two kickoffs for 123 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 80 games.
The Raiders released King Jr. on March 30, 2018. He signed with the Denver Broncos on April 6, 2018. In 2018, he punted the ball 20 times for 881 yards (44.1 AVG) with a long of 66 yards, one touchback, and seven punts from inside the 20-yard line in four games. The Broncos released him on November 8, 2018.
The St. Louis Battlehawks (XFL) drafted King Jr. in the 2020 XFL Supplemental Draft. In 2020, he punted the ball 19 times for 868 yards (45.7 AVG) with a long of 63 yards in five games before the league shutdown due to COVID-19.
The Arlington Renegades drafted King Jr. in the third round (17th pick) in Phase 5 of the 2023 XFL Draft. In 2023, King Jr. punted the ball 40 times for 1,858 yards (46.4 AVG) with a long of 70 yards in 10 games helping the Renegades win the XFL Championship over the D.C. Defenders.
Collegiately, King Jr. played four seasons at Fort Valley State (2008-11) punting the ball 114 times for 4,726 yards (41.5 AVG) with a long of 80 yards, and 38 punts inside the 20-yard line in 21 games for the Wildcats. He was named First Team All-SIAC in 2011.
