The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-4) visited the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Friday night against the USC Trojans (4-4). Rutgers had 434 yards (313 yards passing, 121 yards passing), and 27 first downs as the Scarlet Knights lost to the Trojans 42-20.
Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis completed 27 of 47 passes (57.4%) for 313 yards, one touchdown, and eight carries for -1 yard. Running back Kyle Monangai had 18 carries for 86 yards and three catches for 14 yards.
Wide receiver Dymere Miller made 11 catches for 131 yards, and K.J. Duff made three catches for 51 yards. Rutgers’s defense made 51 tackles, one tackle for loss, and four pass breakups.
USC had 443 yards on offense (308 yards passing, 135 yards rushing), and 22 first downs. Quarterback Miller Moss completed 20 of 28 passes (71.4%) for 308 yards, two touchdowns, one carry for 7 yards, and one touchdown. Running back Woody Marks had 15 carries for 94 yards, three touchdowns, and five catches for 48 yards.
Wide receiver Makai Lemon made four catches for 134 yards, and one touchdown, while Kyle Ford made four catches for 45 yards, and one touchdown USC’s defense made 74 tackles, seven pass breakups, four sacks, and nine pass breakups.
Rutgers is off next week. Their next game is in two weeks against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Time to be determined.
