The Villanova Wildcats (7-2) visited Armstrong Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Hampton Pirates (5-4). Villanova had 241 yards on offense (149 yards passing, 92 yards rushing), and 12 first down in a 20-14 win over the Pirates.

Villanova quarterback Connor Watkins completed 9 of 22 passes (41%) for 149 yards, and six carries for one yard. Running back David Avit had 26 carries for 76 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for 11 yards, while Brendan Bell had one carry for four yards and one touchdown.

Wide receiver Jaylan Sanchez made five catches for 103 yards, and Lucas Kopecky made two catches for 33 yards. Villanova’s defense made 67 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, and two pass breakups.

Hampton had 239 yards on offense (84 yards passing, 155 yards rushing), and 12 first downs. Quarterback Chris Zellous completed 5 of 11 passes (45%) for 79 yards, one touchdown, 12 carries for 21 yards, and one touchdown. Running back Ja’Quan Snipes had 14 carries for 85 yards.

Wide receiver Dorrian Moultrie made two catches for 56 yards, while Kymari Gray made two catches for 13 yards and one touchdown. Hampton’s defense made 59 tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks, and six pass breakups.
