The Ottawa Redblacks released defensive back Monshadrik Hunter on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Monshadrik Hunter is six foot one and weighs 193 pounds. The 29-year-old from Prosper, Texas, re-signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on February 9, 2024. In 2024, Hunter made 20 tackles in six games.

Hunter signed with the Edmonton Eskimos (now Elks) on January 30, 2018. Hunter played two seasons in Edmonton making 85 tackles, 11 tackles on special teams, one sack, and four interceptions in 30 games.

Then, Hunter signed with the Montreal Alouettes on February 12, 2020. He made 44 tackles, one tackle on special teams, one sack, and two interceptions in 14 games for the Alouettes in 2021 on his way to being named a CFL East All-Star.

The Ottawa Redblacks signed Hunter as a free agent on February 9, 2022. In 2022, Hunter made 38 tackles and four interceptions in 12 games for the Redblacks. In 2023, Hunter made 11 tackles in four games after missing the majority of the season with a torn pectoral muscle during training camp.

Collegiately, Hunter played four seasons at Arkansas State (2013-16) making 222 tackles (142 solos, 80 assists), three tackles for loss, one sack six interceptions, four touchdowns, 11 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 49 games for the Red Wolves.
