Winnipeg Blue Bombers release LB Bryce Notree and three others from the practice squad

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released defensive lineman Owen Hubert, linebackers Max Charbonneau and Bryce Notree, and defensive back Tyrique McGhee from the practice squad on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Owen Hubert is six foot four and weighs 255 pounds. The 24-year-old Norwood, Ontario, was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the eighth round (73rd pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2024, Hubert made eight tackles in 10 games.

Collegiately, Hubert played four seasons at McMaster University (2019, 2021-23) making 65 tackles (42 solo, 23 assists), 10.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one kick return for one yard in 27 games for the Marauders.

Max Charbonneau is six foot three and weighs 225 pounds. The 25-year-old from Ottawa, Ontario, was drafted by the Blue Bombers in the eighth round (71st pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft.

In 2023, Charbonneau made two tackles, one tackle for loss, and one tackle on special teams in one preseason game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The Blue Bombers released him on June 4, 2023, and re-signed him on November 28, 2023. In 2024, Charbonneau made seven tackles on special teams in 12 games.

Charbonneau played five seasons at the University of Ottawa (2018-19, 2021-23) with 115.5 tackles (82 solo, 67 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one pass breakup, and two blocked punts in 36 games for the Gee-Gees.

Bryce Notree is six foot three and weighs 225 pounds. The 26-year-old from Arlington, Texas, signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent on May 16, 2022. He was released by the Commanders on August 7, 2022.

Then, Notree signed with the Montreal Alouettes on January 14, 2023. Notree made 21 tackles, 11 tackles on special teams, and one sack in 10 games for the Montreal Alouettes in 2023 helping Montreal win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Montreal Alouettes released Notree on May 11, 2024. He re-signed with the Alouettes on July 17, 2024, and played four games making one tackle on special teams. The Alouettes released him on September 16, 2024. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Notree on October 8, 2024. He appeared in one game for the Blue Bombers in 2024.

Collegiately, Notree played five seasons at Southern Illinois (2017-21) with 246 tackles (169 solo, 77 assists), 15 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, four interceptions for 43 yards, nine pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 46 games with the Salukis. He was an All-MVFC Honorable Mention in 2020.

In his senior season, Notree had 90 tackles (67 solo, 23 assists), 8 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, and six pass breakups in 13 games. He was named 2nd Team All-MVFC in 2021. He finished his Southern Illinois career ranked 24th in tackles (246).

Tyrique McGhee is five foot ten and weighs 187 pounds. The 26-year-old from Byron, Georgia, missed the preseason with an injury and was placed on the practice squad in 2024. He dressed for two regular season games in 2024 but did not see any action.

McGhee signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and was later placed on the practice squad. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed McGhee on February 22, 2022. He was released on May 14, 2022. He re-signed with the Blue Bombers on June 27, 2023. In 2023, McGhee dressed for one game but did not see any action.

Collegiately, McGhee played four seasons at the University of Georgia (2016-19) with 59 tackles (28 solos, 31 assists), one tackle for loss, half a sack, two interceptions for two yards, 11 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 50 games for the Bulldogs.
