The Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens (8-1) hosted the Rhode Island Rams (8-2) on Saturday afternoon from Delaware Stadium. Delaware had 390 yards on offense (187 yards passing, 203 rushing), and 21 first downs as the Blue Hens defeated the Rams 24-21.
Delaware quarterback Nick Minicucci completed 25 of 34 passes (73.5%) for 187 yards, one touchdown, eight carries for two yards, and one touchdown. Running back Marcus Yarns had 23 carries for 174 yards, one touchdown, and made three catches for eight yards.
Wide receiver Phil Lutz made five catches for 89 yards, while Jake Thaw made five catches for 26 yards and one touchdown. Delaware’s defense made 54 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, and one pass breakup.
Rhode Island had 300 yards on offense (211 yards passing, 89 yards lost), and 16 first downs. Quarterback Hunter Helms completed 15 of 23 passes (65.2%) for 181 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Running back Malik Grant had 12 carries for 64 yards and made two catches for 16 yards.
Wide receiver Marquis Buchanan made five catches for 85 yards, and one touchdown, while Tommy Smith made two catches for 40 yards. Rhode Island’s defense made 74 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and three pass breakups.
