Former Philadelphia Eagles running back Elijah Holyfield signs with the WWE

On Friday, former Philadelphia Eagles running back Elijah Holyfield signed with the WWE and will report to the WWE Performance Center where he will begin to train as a professional wrestler. Holyfield is the son of legendary boxer Evander Holyfield.

Elijah Holyfield is five foot ten and weighs 215 pounds. The 26-year-old from College Park, Georgia, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2019. In 2019, Holyfield had 19 carries for 79 yards, one touchdown, six catches for 28 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in four preseason games making the practice squad.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Holyfield off of Carolina’s practice squad on December 31, 2019, and dressed for their game against the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card Game but saw no action. In 2020, the NFL did not have preseason due to COVID-19, and Holyfield was placed on Philadelphia’s practice squad. In 2020, he dressed for one game against the Cleveland Browns but did not see any action.

In 2021, Holyfield had 20 carries for 91 yards and five catches for 27 yards in three preseason games. The Eagles released im on August 29, 2021. Then, Holyfield signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on October 12, 2021, and spent the season on the practice squad. The Bengals released him on July 28, 2022.

Collegiately, Holyfield played three seasons at Georgia (2016-18) with 215 carries for 1,340 yards, 9 touchdowns, 7 catches for 63 yards, four kick returns for 64 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 32 games for the Bulldogs.
