The Villanova Wildcats (8-3) visited Kessler Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Monmouth Hawks (5-6) in their final road game of the season. Villanova had 328 yards on offense (235 yards passing, 93 yards rushing), and 21 first downs in a 40-33 loss to the Hawks ending their three-game winning streak.

Villanova quarterback Connor Watkins completed 20 of 32 passes (62.5%) for 235 yards, one touchdown, 11 carries for 24 yards, and two touchdowns. Running back David Avit had 14 carries for 65 yards, one touchdown, and three catches for 43 yards.

Wide receiver Chris Colby made four catches for 56 yards, while Devin Smith made three catches for 36 yards and one touchdown. Villanova’s defense made 52 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one pass breakup.

Monmouth had 502 yards on offense (358 yards passing, 144 yards rushing), and 18 first downs. Quarterback Derek Robertson completed 22 of 23 passes (96%) for 358 yards, and three touchdowns. Running back Rodney Nelson had 10 carries for 83 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for 9 yards, while Sone Ntoh had 12 carries for 30 yards, two touchdowns, one catch for six yards, and one touchdown.

Wide receiver T.J. Speight made seven catches for 120 yards, while Josh Derry made six catches for 65 yards and one touchdown. Monmouth’s defense made 64 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack.
