Toronto Argonauts release LB Clayton Glasco and nine others from the practice squad

The Toronto Argonauts released offensive linemen John Bosse, Sage Doxtater, and George Moore, defensive lineman Baptiste Pollier, linebacker Clayton Glasco, defensive backs Derek Slywka, and Willie Drew Jr., long snapper Simon Chaves, kicker Alfredo Gachuz Lozada, punter Jeremy Edwards from the practice squad on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page. Practice squad players automatically become free agents with the season now over.

John Bosse is six foot four and weighs 335 pounds. The 24-year-old from Fort Myers, Florida, was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the third round (25th pick) of the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2024, Bosse played two preseason games and spent the season on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Bosse played four seasons at the University of Calgary (2019, 2021-23) playing 29 games for the Dinos making one tackle (1 solo). He was part of the Dinos 2019 Vanier Cup Championship team defeating the University of Montreal.

Sage Doxtater is six foot seven and weighs 350 pounds. The 26-year-old from London, Ontario, was drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft and he signed with St. Louis on January 24, 2024.

However, he was placed on injured reserve on March 10, 2024, and missed the entire season. The Toronto Argonauts signed Doxtater on October 5, 2024, and spent several weeks on the practice squad.

Doxtater was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the second round (12th pick) in the 2021 CFL Draft but chose to return to New Mexico State for his final season.

Doxtater would sign with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. The Saints released him on August 23, 2022. Next, Doxtater signed with the Arizona Cardinals on October 26, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad.

The Cardinals released him on November 15, 2022, and he returned to New Orleans on January 4, 2023. Then, Doxtater signed with the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) in 2023 and played left tackle in five games.

Collegiately, Doxtater played six seasons at New Mexico State University (2016-21) playing left tackle in 49 games for the Aggies. In 2019, New Mexico State’s offense averaged 217.6 passing yards per game, and 143.5 rushing yards per game. He was named to the 2016 Sun Belt Conference All-Newcomer Team.

George Moore is six foot six and weighs 312 pounds. The 28-year-old from Antioch, California, signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2022. He also had stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos.
Then, Moore was drafted by the Arlington Renegades in the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft and later signed with them as a free agent on January 27, 2023. He played six games, of which five were starts helping the Renegades win the XFL Championship over the D.C. Defenders.

He was then traded to the Seattle Sea Dragons, who were not included in the XFL and USFL merger, and was drafted by the D.C. Defenders in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft.

Moore was released by the Defenders on March 10, 2024, and signed with the San Antonio Brahmas on April 24, 2024, but did not play a game for them. The Toronto Argonauts signed Moore on July 8, 2024. In 2024, he played one game against the Edmonton Elks in Week 21.

Collegiately, Moore played two seasons at the College of San Mateo (2015-16) helping the Bulldogs average 32.4 points per game, 408.8 total yards per game, and 192.8 rushing yards per contest.

Then, Moore transferred to Oregon (2017-21) playing left tackle and left guard in 31 games, of which 20 were starts for the Ducks. In 2021, Oregon’s offensive line helped pave the way for an Oregon rushing attack that ran for at least 100 yards in 12 out of 14 games, with seven games of 200-plus rushing yards and two games with 300 or more yards on the ground.

Baptiste Pollier is six foot four and weighs 250 pounds. The 26-year-old from Grenoble, France, played handball before taking up football for the Centaures de Grenoble in France’s top division. The Toronto Argonauts signed Pollier on July 15, 2024, and spent the season on the practice squad.

Then, Pollier made his way to U Sports playing two seasons at the University of Ottawa (2021-23) making 42 tackles (23 solos, 19 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one interception for 15 yards in 16 games for the Gee-Gees.

Clayton Glasco is six foot and weighs 225 pounds. The 27-year-old from Pickerington, Ohio, signed with the Bay Area Panthers (IFL) on December 21, 2021. In 2022, Glasco made 42 tackles (25 solo, 17 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery in seven games.

Then, Glasco signed with the San Diego Strike Force (IFL) in 2023. In 2023, Glasco made 40 tackles (28 solos, 24 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and two pass breakups in nine games. The Toronto Argonauts signed Glasco on September 23, 2024, and spent the season on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Glasco played two seasons at Monroe College (2016-17) making 82 tackles (44 solo, 38 assists), 12 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception for 9 yards, one pass breakup, two blocked kicks, one kick return for 10 yards, and two punt returns for 24 yards in 15 games for the Mustangs. He was named First All-NEC in 2017.

Then, Glasco transferred to Indiana State (2018-19) making 117 tackles (60 solo, 57 assists), 18 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one interception for three yards, and two pass breakups in 20 games for the Sycamores. He was an All-MFVC Honorable Mention in 2019.

Derek Slywka is six foot three and weighs 215 pounds. The 23-year-old from Waterloo, New York, signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent on June 6, 2024. He played three preseason games as a wide receiver making two catches for 27 yards.

The Colts released him on August 25, 2024. The Toronto Argonauts signed Slywka on September 23, 2024, and spent the season on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Slywka played three seasons at Ithaca College (2021-23) making 119 tackles (64 solo, 55 assists), seven tackles for loss, 11 interceptions for 165 yards, one touchdown, 30 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and four blocked kicks in 34 games for the Bombers.

He was named a two-time First Team All-American, D3football.com Region 2 Defensive Player of the Year, and First Team All-Liberty League in 2023 after making 51 tackles (27 solo, 24 assists), two tackles for loss, six interceptions for 71 yards, 16 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and two blocked kicks in 12 games.

Willie Drew Jr. is six foot and weighs 185 pounds. The 24-year-old from Smithfield, Virginia, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, Drew Jr. played two preseason games recording no stats.

The Panthers released him on August 27, 2024. The Toronto Argonauts signed Drew Jr. on September 23, 2024, and spent the season on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Drew Jr. played two seasons at James Madison University (2018-19) making 9 tackles (5 solo, 4 assists) and two pass breakups in 11 games for the Dukes. Then, Drew Jr. transferred to Virginia State (2021-23) making 99 tackles (74 solo, 25 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, 11 interceptions for 54 yards, one touchdown, 39 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one kick return for nine yards in 28 games for the Trojans. He was named First Team All-CIAA, First Team All-American, and the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year.

Simon Chaves is five foot eleven and weighs 200 pounds. The 26-year-old from Guelph, Ontario, signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He returned to the University of Guelph for his final two seasons in 2022 and 2023.

Then, Chaves signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on December 6, 2023. Chaves appeared in two preseason games for the Redblacks in 2024 making one tackle on special teams. The Redblacks released him on June 1, 2024.

The Edmonton Elks signed Chaves on July 15, 2024, and he spent a week on the practice squad before the Elks released him on July 21, 2024. The Toronto Argonauts signed Chaves on October 7, 2024. In 2024, he dressed for one regular season game.

Collegiately, Chaves played seven seasons at the University of Guelph (2017-23) with 12.5 tackles (10 solo, 5 assists) in 27 games for the Gryphons.

Alfredo Gachuz Lozada is five foot ten and weighs 225 pounds. The 25-year-old from Mexico re-signed with the Toronto Argonauts on December 8, 2023. In 2024, Lozada had six kickoffs for 381 yards (63.5 AVG) with a long of 64 yards, made 3 of 3 field goals (100%) with a long of 35 yards, and made one extra point in two preseason games. He spent the 2024 season on the practice squad.

The Argo’s drafted Lozada in the first round (9th pick) in the 2023 CFL Global Draft. In 2023, Lozada played one game for the Argonauts in 2023 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders converting 3 of 4 field goals (75%) with a long of 33 yards and making two of three extra points.

Lozada played for the Naucalpan Raptors of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA) and led the league in scoring five times and was named a two-time all-star.

Jeremy Edwards is six foot five and weighs 220 pounds. The 24-year-old from Bendigo, Australia, was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the first round (7th pick) in the 2024 CFL Global Draft. In 2024, Edwards punted the ball eight times for 343 yards (42.9 AVG) with a long of 48 yards in two preseason games. He spent the 2024 season on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Edwards played two seasons at Eastern Kentucky University (2022-23) punting the ball 84 times for 3,301 yards (39.3 AVG) with a long of 61 yards, four touchbacks, 27 fair catches, 29 from inside the 20-yard line, and nine from 50-plus yards in 23 games for the Colonels.
