The Montreal Alouettes and linebacker Tyrice Beverette agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2026 season on Wednesday. Beverette had one year remaining under his previous contract that was set to expire after the 2025 season.
Tyrice Beverette is six foot and weighs 203 pounds. The 29-year-old from Lakewood, New Jersey, made 102 tackles, 9 tackles on special teams, five sacks, two interceptions, and four forced fumbles in 18 games in 2024. He was named a CFL East All-Star and the All-CFL Team.
The Cincinnati Bengals signed Beverette as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2018. In 2018, he made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in three preseason games. The Bengals released him on September 1, 2018. Next, he signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on May 19, 2019. In 2019, he made 9 tackles and 19 tackles on special teams in 12 games.
In 2021, Beverette made 7 tackles, 8 tackles on special teams, and one sack in eight games. He played two seasons in Hamilton making 16 tackles, 27 tackles on special teams, and one sack in 20 games.
The Montreal Alouettes signed Beverette on February 8, 2022. In 2022, Beverette made 56 tackles, 21 tackles on special teams, one interception, one touchdown, and one forced fumble in 18 games. In 2023, he made 89 tackles, 20 tackles on special teams, seven sacks, and two touchdowns in 18 games helping Montreal win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In the Grey Cup, Beverette made seven tackles and one tackle on special teams.
Collegiately, Beverette played four seasons at Stony Brook (2014-17) making 262 tackles (161 solos, 101 assists), 27.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, five interceptions for 65 yards, 17 pass breakups, seven forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 44 games for the Seawolves. He was named Third Team All-CAA in 2015 and Second Team All-CAA in 2016.
In his final season, Beverette had 96 tackles, 4.5 sacks, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 13 games. In 2015, he was named third-team All-CAA Football, and in 2016 was named second-team All-CAA Football.
