The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed defensive backs Richard Aduboffour and Nicario Harper on Friday.
Richard Aduboffour is six foot three and weighs 220 pounds. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Aduboffour was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the eighth round (68th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.
In 2024, Aduboffour played two preseason games recording no stats. The Roughriders released him on June 1, 2024. He returned to Western University to finish his collegiate career.
Collegiately, Aduboffour played four seasons at Western University (2021-24) making 71 tackles (41 solos, 30 assists), one tackle for loss, five interceptions for 64 yards, 18 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one kick return in 42 games for the Mustangs.
In 2023, Aduboffour made 23 tackles (12 solos, 11 assists), two interceptions for 20 yards, and nine pass breakups in 11 games. His two interceptions ranked him fifth in the OUA.
In 2024, he made 20 tackles (13 solos, 7 assists), one tackle for loss, half a sack, two interceptions for 44 yards, and three pass breakups in 11 games. He was named Second Team OUA All-Star in 2022, and a two-time First Team OUA All-Star (2023-24).
Nicario Harper is six foot and weighs 205 pounds. The 25-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, attended the Indianapolis Colts rookie minicamp in 2024. Next, he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on May 22, 2024. In 2024, Harper made three tackles in one preseason game against the Edmonton Elks. The Roughriders released him on June 1, 2024.
Collegiately, Harper played one season at Southern Mississippi in 2018 making three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in three games for the Golden Eagles. Next, Harper transferred to Jacksonville State (2020-21) making 146 tackles (69 solos, 77 assists), five tackles for loss, five interceptions for 43 yards, nine pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 22 games for the Gamecocks.
Harper was named the OVC Defensive Player of the Year, a Buck Buchanon Award Finalist, an FCS ADA All-American as the best player in the nation at his position, AFCA First Team All-American, First Team All-American by HERO Sports, First Team All-American by the Associated Press, and First Team All-OVC in the 2020-21 season.
Then, Harper transferred to Louisville in 2022 making seven tackles (4 solos, 3 assists) and half a tackle for loss in five games for the Cardinals. Harper concluded his collegiate career at Illinois in 2023 making 50 tackles (30 solos, 20 assists), two tackles for loss, one interception, and three pass breakups in 12 games for the Fighting Illini.
