The Penn State Nittany Lions (10-1) visited Huntington Bank Stadium on Saturday against the Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-5). Penn State had 361 yards on offense (244 yards passing, 117 yards rushing), and 19 first downs to hold on to a 26-25 win over the Golden Gophers to win the Governor’s Victory Bell for the second straight season.
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar completed 21 of 28 passes (75%) for 244 yards, one touchdown, nine carries for 8 yards, and one touchdown. Running back Nicholas Singleton had 13 carries for 63 yards, one touchdown, and six catches for 37 yards.
Tight End Tyler Warren made eight catches for 102 yards, while Omari Evans made two catches for 51 yards and one touchdown. Penn State’s defense made 64 tackles, nine tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Minnesota had 281 yards on offense (175 yards passing, 106 yards rushing), and 18 first downs. Quarterback Max Brosmer completed 15 of 23 passes (65.2%) for 175 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and six carries for three yards. Running back Darius Taylor had 17 carries for 58 yards, and three catches for 8 yards, while Marcus Major had 10 carries for 37 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for one yard.
Wide receiver Daniel Jackson made six catches for 90 yards, while Jameson Geers made one catch for 21 yards, and one touchdown. Minnesota’s defense made 76 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup.
