The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed wide receiver D’Sean Mimbs, offensive lineman Nick Jones, and kicker Ben Hadley on Monday.
D’Sean Mimbs is six foot one and weighs 180 pounds. The 24-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan, was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the sixth round (50th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. He attended training camp before he returned to Regina for the final collegiate season.
Collegiately, Mimbs played four seasons at the University of Regina (2021-24) making 130 catches for 1,717 yards, 10 touchdowns, two carries for seven yards, 14 kick returns for 287 yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 32 games for the Rams. He was named the University of Regina’s Male Rookie of the Year in 2021.
In 2023, Mimbs made 30 catches for 460 yards, one touchdown, one carry for two yards, four kick returns for 59 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in six games. In 2024, Mimbs made 45 catches for 512 yards, and two touchdowns in 11 games.
Nick Jones is six foot three and weighs 300 pounds. The 24-year-old from Byhalia, Mississippi, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Jones on July 16, 2024. He played in six games for the Roughriders in 2024.
The Roughriders released him on October 25, 2024. The Roughriders re-signed Jones on October 26, 2024, and spent the rest of the season on the practice squad. The Roughriders released him on November 10, 2024.
Collegiately, Jones played one season at East Mississippi Community College in 2019 playing 10 games for the Lions. The Lions’ offense averaged 457.4 yards of total offense per game and 34.8 points per game. They ranked seventh nationally in total offense and No. 12 in scoring offense. He was named Second Team All-MACCC in 2019.
Then, Jones transferred to Mississippi State (2021-23) playing left tackle and left guard in 32 games, of which 25 were starts for the Bulldogs making two tackles (2 solo). In 2023, the Bulldogs’ offense averaged 21.83 points per game, 328.6 yards per game, 146.8 rushing yards per game, 181.83 passing yards per game, and 30 touchdowns in 12 games finishing with a 5-7 record.
Ben Hadley is six foot two and weighs 190 pounds. A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, made 25 of 29 field goals (86%) with a long of 55 yards (longest field goal in SFX history), and one tackle (1 solo) in eight games for the X-Men. He was named USports First Team All-Canadian.
Collegiately, Hadley played one season at Queen’s University in 2019 with 16 kickoffs for 868 yards (54.3 AVG) one touchback, made 4 of 7 field goals (57.1%) with a long of 36 yards, punting the ball 36 times for 1,248 yards (34.7 AVG), with a long of 48 yards, eight of them from inside the 20-yard line, and one carry for -5 yards in four games for the Gaels.
Then, he transferred to St. Francis Xavier University (2021-24) making 61 of 74 field goals (82%) with a long of 55 yards, made 71 of 73 extra points, punting the ball 12 times for 430 yards (35.8 AVG), with a long of 50 yards, one carry for 19 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 30 games for the X-Men. Hadley was named a three-time AUS Special Teams All-Star, and a two-time X-Men Special Teams player of the year (2023-24).
