The Arlington Renegades signed offensive lineman Griffin McDowell on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Griffin McDowell is six foot four and weighs 301 pounds. The 24-year-old from Leesburg, Georgia, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2024. In 2024, he played three preseason games with one fumble recovery.
The Chiefs released McDowell on August 26, 2024. The Arlington Renegades drafted McDowell in the second round (11th pick) of the 2024 UFL College Draft.
Collegiately, McDowell played five seasons at Florida (2018-22) as a backup offensive lineman and contributed on special teams playing 40 games for the Gators. Then, McDowell transferred to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2023 playing 13 games for the Mocs. In 2023, Tennessee-Chattanooga’s offense averaged 27.46 points per game, 139.2 rushing yards per game, 245.31 passing yards per game, 384.5 total yards per game, and 41 touchdowns.
The offensive line ranked second in the nation in pass blocking per PFF College, ranked 10th in time of possession (32:27), and allowed a mere 3.85 tackles for loss per contest (9th in the country) and just 1.31 sacks (20th). He was named Second Team All-SoCon and a member of the Shrine Bowl 1000 watch list.
