The Montreal Alouettes re-signed quarterback Davis Alexander to a three-year contract extension through the 2027 season on Wednesday.
Davis Alexander is six foot and weighs 195 pounds. The 26-year-old from Gig Harbor, Washington, completed 105 of 151 passes (69.5%) for 1,347 yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions, 24 carries for 166 yards, and three touchdowns in seven games going 4-0 as a starter.
“At just 26 years old, Davis is the future of this franchise,” said Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia. “This season, he was called upon to play in crucial games with us, and he responded very well under pressure. He has learned from Cody Fajardo for two years and is ready to take the next step. We’re now entrusting him with the leadership of the team, and we have full confidence in him.”
Alexander went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Montreal Alouettes signed Alexander as a free agent in 2022. In 2022, Alexander completed 8 of 13 passes (62%) for 89 yards, five carries for 22 yards, and one touchdown in 13 games. In 2023, Alexander completed 6 of 8 passes (75%) for 56 yards, and one carry for no yards in two games when the Alouettes won the Grey Cup.
Collegiately, Alexander played five seasons at Portland State (2017-21) completing 708 of 1,223 passes (58%) for 9,215 yards, 63 touchdowns, 31 interceptions, 362 carries for 1,258 yards, 25 touchdowns, two catches for 48 yards, one punt for 41 yards inside the 20-yard line, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 41 games for the Vikings.
