The St. Louis Battlehawks re-signed defensive end Freedom Akinmoladun for the 2025 season on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Freedom Akinmoladun is six foot three and weighs 278 pounds. The 28-year-old from Grandview, Missouri, re-signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks on January 31, 2024. In 2024, he made 14 tackles (5 solos, 9 assists), and one tackle for loss in nine games. In the XFL Conference Championship game against the San Antonio Brahmas, he made two tackles (2 assists).
The New York Giants signed Akinmoladun as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2019. In 2019, he made five tackles (1 solo, 4 assists) in four preseason games. He spent the majority of the 2019 season on the practice squad.
The Giants released him on November 12, 2019. Next, he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on November 19, 2019. He played two seasons in Cincinnati making two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in two games. The Bengals released him on August 22, 2021. He also spent time with the Tennessee Titans and the New York Jets.
The Philadelphia Stars (USFL) drafted Akinmoladun in the second round (14th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In 2022, he made 23 tackles (14 solos, 9 assists), four tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks in 10 games. In the 2022 USFL playoffs, he made five tackles (3 solos, 2 assists), and three tackles for loss helping Philadelphia reach the USFL Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions.
Then, the St. Louis Battlehawks drafted Akinmoladun in the third round (17th pick) of the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft. In 2023, he made 14 tackles (7 solos, 7 assists), one tackle for loss, one pass breakup, and one sack in 10 games.
Collegiately, Akinmoladun played four seasons at Nebraska (2015-18) making 106 tackles (53 solos, 53 assists), 14 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups in 47 games, of which 41 were starts for the Cornhuskers.
