The Montreal Alouettes signed linebackers Barrington Wade and Trezmen Marshall, and defensive back Matt Severance to two-year contract extensions through the 2026 season and signed defensive back Cameron Brown to a three-year contract extension through the 2027 season. Three of the four players signed future contracts earlier this year.
Barrington Wade is six foot one and weighs 210 pounds. The 26-year-old from Skokie, Illinois, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2021. The Ravens released him on August 6, 2021.
Next, he was acquired via waivers from the Denver Broncos on August 7, 2021. He made 7 tackles (4 solos, 3 assists) and a half sack in three preseason games to earn a spot on the practice squad. In 2022, Barrington made 11 tackles (10 solos, 1 assist) in two preseason games. The Broncos released him on August 27, 2022.
Then, Barrington signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on May 5, 2023. He played in two preseason games making eight tackles and one tackle on special teams. The Blue Bombers released him on June 4, 2023. Barrington signed with the Chicago Bears on August 8, 2023.
He made six tackles (3 solos, 3 assists) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Bears released him on August 29, 2023. The Montreal Alouettes signed Wade to a future contract on September 11, 2024.
Collegiately, Wade played four seasons at Iowa (2017-20) with 23 tackles (11 solos, 12 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two pass breakups, and two interceptions for 28 yards in 33 games for the Hawkeyes, of which four were starts.
In his final season, Wade made 12 tackles (8 solos, 4 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, two pass breakups, and two interceptions for 28 yards in eight games, of which three were starts.
In high school, Wade earned honorable mention All-America recognition, was named First Team All-State as a senior, earned MVP and Sportsmanship Awards, and was a three-time First Team All-Conference.
Trezmen Marshall is six foot one and weighs 236 pounds. The 24-year-old from Homerville, Georgia, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Montreal Alouettes signed Marshall to a future contract on October 8, 2024.
Collegiately, Marshall played four seasons at Georgia (2019-22) making 31 tackles (17 solos, 14 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and two pass breakups in 32 games for the Bulldogs. He helped the Bulldogs win two CFP National Championships.
Then, Marshall transferred to Alabama in 2023 making 56 tackles (27 solos, 29 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 13 games for the Crimson Tide.
Matt Severance is five foot ten and weighs 195 pounds. The 23-year-old from Lynn, Massachusetts, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp. The Montreal Alouettes signed Severance on May 12, 2024. He attended training camp for two days before he was placed on the suspended list.
Collegiately, Severance played four seasons at Bentley University (2019, 2021-23) making 120 tackles (76 solos, 44 assists), six tackles for loss, half a sack, two forced fumbles, two interceptions for 57 yards, 22 pass breakups, two blocked kicks, one punt for 32 yards, and one punt return for 12 yards in 41 games for the Falcons.
In 2023, he made 27 tackles (18 solos, 9 assists), one tackle for loss, five pass breakups, one forced fumble, three blocked kicks, one punt return for 12 yards and punted the ball one time for 32 yards in eight games. He was named Second Team All-NE10 Conference in 2022.
In 2023, Severance made 37 tackles (26 solo, 11 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, one forced fumble, six pass breakups, three blocked kicks, one punt for 32 yards, and one punt return for 12 yards in 10 games. Severance has played every game for the Falcons since he arrived in 2019.
Cameron Brown is six foot and weighs 199 pounds. The 24-year-old from St. Louis, Missouri, signed with the Arlington Renegades as a free agent on December 10, 2023. In 2024, Brown made one tackle (1 solo) in one game before being placed on injured reserve and missed the 2024 season.
The Renegades released Brown on August 26, 2024. The Montreal Alouettes signed Brown to a future contract on September 1, 2024.
The Los Angeles Chargers signed Brown as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. Brown made 10 tackles (9 solo, 1 assist) and two pass breakups in three preseason games.
Collegiately, Brown played five seasons at Ohio State (2018-22) with 55 tackles (40 solo, 15 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception for 25 yards, and 14 pass breakups in 38 games for the Buckeyes. Brown was a Big-Ten Honorable Mention in 2021 by the coaches and media.
