The Montreal Alouettes re-signed defensive back Wesley Sutton on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Wesley Sutton is five foot eleven and weighs 194 pounds. The 28-year-old from Chandler, Arizona, made 61 tackles, one tackle on special teams, two sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in 12 games in 2024.
Sutton went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft and attended the Philadelphia Eagles rookie minicamp. In 2020, Sutton played for the New York Guardians (XFL) making five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist), and one pass breakup in five games before the league shutdown due to the pandemic.
The Montreal Alouettes signed Sutton on March 22, 2021. In 2021, he made six tackles and one interception in two games. In 2022, he made 79 tackles, one tackle on special teams, four sacks, one interception, and two forced fumbles in 18 games. He was named a CFL East All-Star.
In 2023, Sutton made 54 tackles, one tackle on special teams, three sacks, one interception, one touchdown, and one forced fumble in 16 games helping the Alouettes win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was named a CFL East All-Star for the second straight year.
Collegiately, Sutton played five seasons at Northern Arizona University (2014-18) making 152 tackles (96 solos, 56 assists), 10.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions for 103 yards, one touchdown, 18 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 42 games for the Lumberjacks. He was named First Team All-Big Sky in 2017.
