The St. Louis Battlehawks signed defensive back Nick Whiteside on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Nick Whiteside is six foot one and weighs 200 pounds. The 24-year-old from Auburn Hills, Michigan, signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, he made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) and two pass breakups in three preseason games to earn a spot on the practice squad. He dressed for two regular season games in 2023.
In 2024, Whiteside made five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Commanders released him on August 27, 2024.
Collegiately, Whiteside played four seasons at Saginaw Valley State (2018-22) making 131 tackles (67 solos, 64 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, 12 interceptions for 176 yards, one touchdown, 26 pass breakups, one blocked kick, and one punt return for 30 yards in 43 games for the Cardinals. Whiteside was named Second Team All-American in 2021, AFAA All-American in 2022, First Team All-GLIAC, and an All-GLIAC Honorable Mention in 2019.
