The San Antonio Brahmas signed defensive back Kalon Barnes on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Kalon Barnes is six foot and weighs 186 pounds. The 25-year-old from Silsbee, Texas, was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round (242nd pick) of the 2022 NFL Draft. In 2022, he made 9 tackles (8 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Panthers released him on August 30, 2022.
The Miami Dolphins signed Barnes on September 1, 2022. He spent most of the season on the practice squad. The Minnesota Vikings signed Barnes off of Miami’s practice squad on December 14, 2022. He dressed for two regular season games.
In 2023, Barnes made 9 tackles (8 solos, 1 assist) in three preseason games. The Vikings released him on August 28, 2023. He would spend time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, and the Cleveland Browns practice squads in 2023.
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed him again on January 23, 2024. In 2024, he made three tackles (3 solos) and one pass breakup in one preseason game. The Steelers released him on August 19, 2024.
Collegiately, Barnes played four seasons at Baylor (2018-21) making 69 tackles (53 solos, 19 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions for 18 yards, 17 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 41 games for the Bears.
