Saskatchewan Roughriders and DL Charbel Dabire agree to a one-year contract extension

The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed defensive lineman Charbel Dabire to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Friday.

Charbel Dabire is six foot one and weighs 290 pounds. The 27-year-old from Burkina Faso, made re-signed with the Roughriders on January 19, 2024. In 2024, he made four tackles, one tackle on special teams, two sacks, and one forced fumble in four games. He missed the majority of the season with a knee injury.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders drafted Dabire in the fifth round (44th pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft out of Wagner College. In 2023, Dabire made 13 tackles, two tackles on special teams, and two sacks in 18 games.

In five seasons with the Roughriders, Dabire has made 41 tackles, four tackles on special teams, eight sacks, one forced fumble, and three kick returns for 34 yards in 59 games.

Collegiately, Dabire played one season at New Mexico Military Institute in 2015 making 22 tackles (8 solos, 14 assists), and 1.5 tackles for loss in 11 games for the Broncos. Then, he transferred to Wagner College (2016-18) making 73 tackles (47 solos, 26 assists), nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one pass breakup, one punt return for 36 yards, and one touchdown in 33 games for Seahawks.
