The Memphis Showboats are set to sign defensive end Jaylon Allen on Monday according to Pro Football Newsroom writer James Larsen.
Jaylon Allen is six foot three and weighs 240 pounds. The 24-year-old from Humble, Texas, signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, Allen played in one preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts recording no stats. The Broncos released him on August 14, 2024.
Collegiately, Allen played five seasons at Memphis (2019-23) making 150 tackles (77 solos, 73 assists), 25.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, one interception for 39 yards, one touchdown, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 60 games for the Tigers.
In 2023, Allen made 40 tackles (23 solos, 17 assists), seven tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 13 games. He was named a two-time Fourth Team All-AAC by Phil Steele (2022-23), All-AAC Honorable Mention in 2022, and Second Team All-AAC in 2023.
