Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive end Mason Bennett announced his retirement on his Instagram account on Monday.

Mason Bennett is six foot four and weighs 262 pounds. The 27-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, re-signed with the Ticats on February 7, 2024. In 2024, Bennett appeared in two preseason games recording no stats. The Ticats released him on June 1, 2024.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats drafted Bennett in the first round (8th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In 2023, he made five tackles, one tackle on special teams, and one sack in 14 games for the Ticats in 2023. In three seasons, Bennett has 44 tackles, five tackles on special teams, and eight sacks in 43 games.

Collegiately, Bennett played four seasons at North Dakota (2016-19) with 126 tackles (64 solos, 62 assists), 31.5 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 42 games for the Fighting Hawks.
